Decorative Dry Stone Tree

Garrigill, Cumbria

This decorative garden feature highlights the possibilities for creating something functional, yet aphetically pleasing at the same time.

My clients wanted something to hide the view of a gas tank situated at the far end of their garden, they also saw this as an opportunity to create a focal point with something that would hopefully catch your eye.

After a quick on site meeting I set about sketching up a design, luckily they liked the idea of a ‘Dry Stone Tree’ and decided to go ahead with the project. This was a design I’d wanted to try for some time now, and so was looking forward to getting started.

The main body of the wall was constructed using local sandstone supplied by Alston Natural Stone, the ‘trunk’ is made up of Cumbrian Westmorland Slate and then all topped off with mixed cobbles.
