Large Garden Retaining Wall

Haydon Bridge, Northumberland

 

This large retaining wall in Haydon Bridge was to replace the old collapsing wall that once stood in its place, the wall was to double in height to act as a wind break/sun trap.

 

New sandstone was supplied by Alston Natural Stone and a reinforced concrete block wall was built to retain the field behind. Jim, my client was looking for a natural yet uniformed finish to the stonework. To achieve this we used regular walling stone, spending a little extra time shaping it as we built.

 

Handmade coping stones were used to finish off and Jim was more than happy with the final result.
