Natural Riverstone Fireplace

Nenthead, Cumbria

Ok, now this client was especially critical and hard to please as this time the client was indeed myself. I’d been planning on getting rid of my old open fire and fitting a new wood stove for a little while, I knew exactly how I wanted the new fireplace to look and it was just a case of building it.

The new hearth was made using the original sandstone flags, I then curved the edges to soften the look. The walls were constructed from sandstone river cobbles and finished with a raised style of pointing that matched the bulging nature of the stone.

A large twisted oak lintel was set into position, dimmable lighting connected and finally the wood burning stove.
