About Lambeth Stonework

Lambeth Stonework is a professional stonemasonry business based in Kendal, serving Cumbria, the South Lakes and surrounding areas. Established in 1999, we have over 25 years experience in traditional stonework, including dry stone walling, mortared walling, lime pointing and feature work.

How we work

We operate as a small, hands-on business, with all work managed and carried out personally by Laurie Lambeth. Clear communication, realistic scheduling and efficient working practices ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, whilst maintaining a consistent high standard of workmanship throughout.

If you'd like to discuss a project or have any questions, feel free to get in touch.

Laurie Lambeth began working with stone in the 1990s as a teenager, initially carrying out agricultural dry stone walling work. These early years were spent developing practical skills in demanding rural environments, where accuracy, speed and structural understanding were essential. This grounding in traditional dry stone walling formed the foundation for a wider career in stonework.

As his skills developed, Laurie expanded into a wider range of stone construction, including decorative and feature work. He went on to qualify as a Master Craftsman with the Dry Stone Walling Association, reflecting a recognised standard of workmanship and technical knowledge.

Alongside this, Laurie undertook training with the Scottish Lime Centre Trust, gaining experience working with traditional lime mortars as part of his wider restoration and conservation work.

Teaching, Examination and International Work

Alongside working in the UK, Laurie has carried out stonework internationally, including periods working in Australia. His experience later extended into teaching and assessment, becoming a qualified instructor and examiner for the Dry Stone Walling Association. In this role, he has taught and examined candidates both in the UK and overseas, including work in Canada.
