Ha Ha Wall
Bardon Mill, Haydon Bridge
For those of you not familiar with the term 'ha-ha wall' it is a recessed landscape design that creates a vertical barrier while preserving views.
The design includes a turfed incline which slopes downward to a sharply vertical face, in this case a stone retaining wall. Ha-has are used in landscape design to prevent access to a garden, for example by grazing livestock, without obstructing views.
Built from reclaimed sandstone and faced onto a reinforced block wall, the result of this ha-ha is uninterrupted views of the Northumberland countryside and more importantly, no sheep in the garden
